The I am sayings — bread of life, light of the world, good shepherd, resurrection and the life, the way and the truth and the life, the true vine. Chapters 14 to 17 are the longest farewell conversation in literature, and the prayer of chapter 17 is Jesus talking to his Father about you. It ends on a beach, with breakfast, and three chances to answer one question: do you love me?
