Chronicles retells the David story without the mess — no Bathsheba, no Absalom, just David as the great organiser of worship. The first nine chapters are a genealogical sprint from Adam to the returning exiles. Then David takes over: the ark brought to Jerusalem (Uzzah dies touching it, David is angry and afraid), the covenant God makes with him (I will build you a house), the census disaster and the plague that stops at Araunah’s threshing floor (the site of the future temple). Ends with David’s great prayer before the whole assembly: Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
