Washing the feet
Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew his hour had come to leave this world and go to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. And supper being over, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him, Jesus, knowing the Father had given everything into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God, got up from supper and took off his outer clothes, and took a towel and tied it round himself. After that he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel he had round him. Then he came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to him, Lord, are you going to wash my feet? Jesus answered him, What I am doing you don't understand now. But you will understand afterwards. Peter said to him, You will never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I don't wash you, you have no part with me. Simon Peter said to him, Lord, not my feet only, but my hands and my head as well. Jesus said to him, A man who has bathed needs only to wash his feet. He is clean all over. And you are clean — but not all of you. Because he knew who would betray him. That is why he said, You aren't all clean. So after he had washed their feet and put his clothes back on and sat down again, he said to them, Do you understand what I have done for you? You call me Master and Lord. And you are right, because that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet as well. Because I have given you an example, so you should do as I have done to you. I tell you the truth, the servant isn't greater than his master, and the one who is sent isn't greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

One of you will hand me over
I am not speaking about all of you. I know the ones I have chosen. But so the scripture may be fulfilled: He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me. I am telling you now, before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe that I am he. I tell you the truth, whoever receives anyone I send receives me. And whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. When Jesus had said this he was troubled in spirit, and he testified and said, I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me. Then the disciples looked at one another, at a loss which of them he meant. Now one of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, was leaning on Jesus' breast. So Simon Peter signalled to him to ask who it was he meant. So leaning back on Jesus' breast he said to him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, It is the one I give this piece of bread to, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the bread, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, What you are doing, do quickly. Now nobody at the table knew why he said this to him. Some of them thought, because Judas had the money bag, that Jesus had said to him, Buy what we need for the feast — or that he should give something to the poor. So he took the piece of bread and went out straight away. And it was night.

And as I said to the Jews, Where I am going you can't come — so now I say it to you. A new commandment I give you: that you love one another. As I have loved you, so you are to love one another. By this everyone will know you are my disciples — if you have love for one another. Simon Peter said to him, Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered him, Where I am going you can't follow me now.
