Old men and children in the streets
And the word of the Lord Almighty came to me: This is what the Lord Almighty says: I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury. This is what the Lord says: I have returned to Zion, and I will live in Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty the Holy Mountain. This is what the Lord Almighty says: Old men and old women will sit in the streets of Jerusalem again, every one of them with a stick in his hand for his great age. And the streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in them. This is what the Lord Almighty says: If it seems too much to what is left of this people in these days, should it seem too much to me as well? says the Lord Almighty. This is what the Lord Almighty says: Look — I am saving my people from the country of the east and from the country of the west. I will bring them back, and they will live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in what is right. This is what the Lord Almighty says: Let your hands be strong, you who are hearing these words in these days from the mouth of the prophets — the ones who spoke on the day the foundation of the house of the Lord Almighty was laid, so the temple could be built. Because before those days there was no wage for a man and no wage for a beast. And there was no safety in going out or coming in, because of the trouble. I had set every man against his neighbour. But now I won't deal with what is left of this people the way I did in the old days, says the Lord Almighty. Because the seed will prosper. The vine will give its fruit, the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew. And I will cause the survivors of this people to possess all these things. And just as you were a curse among the nations, people of Judah and people of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Don't be afraid. Let your hands be strong.

This is what the Lord Almighty says: Look — I am saving my people from the country of the east and from the country of the west.

I will bring them back, and they will live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in what is right.

Speak the truth to each other
Because this is what the Lord Almighty says: Just as I planned to bring trouble on you when your fathers made me angry, says the Lord Almighty, and I did not relent, so again in these days I have planned to do good to Jerusalem and to the people of Judah. Don't be afraid. These are the things you are to do: speak the truth, every man to his neighbour. Give judgement in your gates that is true and makes peace. And don't any of you plan harm in your heart against his neighbour, and don't love a false oath. Because all these are things I hate, says the Lord. And the word of the Lord Almighty came to me: This is what the Lord Almighty says: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, will be joy and gladness to the people of Judah, and cheerful feasts. So love truth and peace. This is what the Lord Almighty says: It will yet happen that peoples will come, and those who live in many cities. And the people of one city will go to another and say, Let us go at once to plead before the Lord and to seek the Lord Almighty. I am going myself. Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the Lord Almighty in Jerusalem, and to plead before the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty says: In those days ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold — they will take hold of the coat of one Jew and say, We are going with you, because we have heard that God is with you.
Because this is what the Lord Almighty says: The way I planned to bring trouble on you when your fathers made me angry, says the Lord Almighty, and I wasn't sorry — that's how I've turned round and planned in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don't be frightened. These are the things you'll do: Speak the truth, every man to his neighbour. Do the judgment of truth and peace in your gates. And don't think up evil in your hearts against your neighbour, and don't love a false oath. Because I hate all these things, says the Lord. And the word of the Lord Almighty came to me: This is what the Lord Almighty says: The fast of the fourth month and the fast of the fifth and the fast of the seventh and the fast of the tenth will be joy and gladness and good feasts for the house of Judah. So love truth and peace. This is what the Lord Almighty says: There'll be peoples again, and the people who live in plenty of towns. And the people of one town will go to another and say: Let's go quickly and plead in front of the Lord and look for the Lord Almighty. I'll go too. Yes, plenty of peoples and strong nations will come to look for the Lord Almighty in Jerusalem and to plead in front of the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty says: In those days ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold of the edge of the coat of a Jewish man and say: We'll go with you, because we've heard that God is with you.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not: So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not. These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD. Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
