The word against the nations

The burden of the word of the Lord against the land of Hadrach, and Damascus is where it settles — because the eyes of men, and of all the tribes of Israel, are toward the Lord. And Hamath too will border there, along with Tyrus and Zidon, though it is very wise. And Tyrus built herself a stronghold and heaped up silver like dust and fine gold like the mud of the streets. Look — the Lord will dispossess her and strike her power into the sea, and she will be eaten up with fire. Ashkelon will see it and be afraid. Gaza will see it and writhe, and Ekron too, because what she looked for has come to nothing. The king will perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon won't be lived in. And a bastard will live in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. And I will take the blood out of his mouth and the disgusting things from between his teeth. But the one who remains will belong to our God, and he will be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite. And I will camp around my house as a guard, against the army going through and coming back. And no oppressor will pass through them again, because now I have seen it with my own eyes.

The word of the Lord against the land of Hadrak, and Damascus is where it rests. Because the eyes of man and of all the tribes of Israel are towards the Lord. And Hamath too, on its border, and Tyre and Sidon, though they're very wise. And Tyre built herself a stronghold and piled up silver like dust and fine gold like the mud of the streets. Look — the Lord will drive her out and strike her strength in the sea, and she'll be eaten up with fire. Ashkelon will see it and be frightened, and Gaza too, and be in great pain, and Ekron, because what she looked for has been shamed. And the king will be gone from Gaza, and Ashkelon won't be lived in. And a mixed people will live in Ashdod, and I'll cut off the pride of the Philistines. And I'll take his blood out of his mouth and his disgusting things out from between his teeth. But the one who's left, even he'll be for our God, and he'll be like a leader in Judah, and Ekron like a Jebusite. And I'll camp round my house because of the army, because of the one going past and coming back. And no oppressor will go through them any more, because now I've seen it with my own eyes.

The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD. And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise. And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets. Behold, the LORD will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire. Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite. And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.

Your king is coming

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look — your king comes to you. He is just, and he brings salvation. He is lowly, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be cut off. And he will speak peace to the nations, and his rule will be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. And as for you — by the blood of your covenant I have sent your prisoners out of the pit with no water in it. Come back to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Today I am telling you: I will give you back double. For I have bent Judah as my bow and filled it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, and make you like the sword of a fighting man. And the Lord will be seen over them, and his arrow will go out like lightning. And the Lord God will blow the trumpet and go out in the storms of the south. The Lord Almighty will shield them, and they will devour and tread down the slingstones. And they will drink and roar as if with wine, and be filled like a bowl, like the corners of the altar. And the Lord their God will save them on that day, as the flock of his people. Because they will be like the jewels of a crown, lifted high over his land. For how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty. Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the young women.

Celebrate hard, daughter of Zion. Shout out, daughter of Jerusalem. Look — your king is coming to you. He's righteous and he's saving. He's humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. And I'll cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be cut off. And he'll speak peace to the nations. And his rule will be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you too, because of the blood of your covenant I've let your prisoners go out of the pit with no water in it. Turn back to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Today I'm telling you: I'll give you back double. Because I've bent Judah for myself, and filled the bow with Ephraim. And I'll stir up your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, and make you like the sword of a strong man. And the Lord will be seen over them, and his arrow will go out like lightning. And the Lord God will blow the trumpet and go with the whirlwinds of the south. The Lord Almighty will cover them, and they'll eat and beat down the sling stones. And they'll drink and make a noise like men on wine, and they'll be full like bowls and like the corners of the altar. And the Lord their God will save them on that day like the flock of his people. Because they'll be like the stones of a crown, lifted up like a banner over his land. Because how great his goodness is and how great his beauty. Grain will make the young men grow, and new wine the young women.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth. As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee; When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man. And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the LORD God shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south. The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar. And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land. For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.
