The first six seals
And I watched as the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard one of the four beasts say, with a noise like thunder, Come and see. And I looked, and there was a white horse. And the one sitting on it had a bow, and a crown was given him. And he went out conquering, and to conquer. And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And another horse went out, a red one. And the one sitting on it was given power to take peace from the earth, so men would kill each other. And a great sword was given him. And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and there was a black horse, and the one sitting on it had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the middle of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a day's wage, and three measures of barley for a day's wage. And don't hurt the oil and the wine. And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and there was a pale horse. The name of the one sitting on it was Death, and Hell followed with him. They were given power over a quarter of the earth, to kill with sword and hunger and death and by the beasts of the earth. And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the word of God and for the testimony they held. And they cried out with a loud voice: How long, Lord, holy and true, before you judge and avenge our blood on those who live on the earth? And white robes were given to each of them. They were told to rest a little while longer, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who were to be killed as they were, should also be fulfilled. And they said to the mountains and the rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one seated on the throne, and from the anger of the Lamb. Because the great day of his anger has come, and who is able to stand?

And they cried out in a great voice: How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who live on the earth? And each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to rest a little longer, until the number was complete of their fellow servants and their brothers who were going to be killed as they had been.
