The sealing; the great crowd
And after this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so no wind would blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. And I saw another angel coming up from the east, with the seal of the living God. And he called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the earth and the sea, saying, Don't harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads. And I heard the number of those who were sealed: a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of all the tribes of the Israelites. Of the tribe of Juda, twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Reuben, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Aser, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Simeon, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Zabulon, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph, twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand were sealed. After this I looked, and there was a great crowd that nobody could count, out of every nation and tribe and people and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, with palms in their hands. And they cried out with a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb. And all the angels stood round the throne and the elders and the four beasts, and fell face down before the throne and worshipped God, saying: Amen. Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen. And one of the elders spoke up and said to me, Who are these dressed in white robes, and where have they come from? And I said to him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are the ones who have come out of the great trouble, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. That is why they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple. And the one seated on the throne will live among them. They will hunger no more, and thirst no more. The sun won't beat down on them, and no scorching heat. Because the Lamb in the middle of the throne will feed them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.
