The mind of Christ
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any tenderness and mercy, then make my joy complete by being of one mind, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of rivalry or a big head. In humility, think more of others than of yourselves. Don't just look out for your own interests, but for the interests of others too. Have the same mind in you that was in Christ Jesus. who, being in the form of God, did not think it robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation, took the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross. So God has highly exalted him and given him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Timothy and Epaphroditus
But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus to you soon, so I can be cheered up myself by news of how you are getting on. I have got nobody else like him, who will take a genuine interest in how you are doing. Everyone looks after their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know what Timothy is made of — he has served with me in the gospel like a son with his father. So he is the one I hope to send, as soon as I see how things go with me. And I am confident in the Lord that I will be coming soon myself. Still, I thought I had better send Epaphroditus back to you — my brother, fellow worker and fellow soldier, and the man you sent to look after my needs. Because he has been missing the lot of you, and he was cut up that you had heard he was sick. And he was sick — near enough dead. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me too, so I wouldn't have one grief piled on another. So I am all the keener to send him, so you can be glad to see him again and I can have one less worry. Welcome him in the Lord with real gladness, and hold men like him in high regard, because he came close to dying for the work of Christ. He put his life on the line to make up for the help you couldn't give me yourselves.
But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, so I can be of good comfort too when I know how you're doing. Because for the work of Christ he was near death, not caring for his life, to make up for what was lacking in your service towards me.
