The bronze snake
When King Arad the Canaanite, who lived in the south, heard that Israel came by the way of the spies, then he fought Israel and took some of them prisoner. Israel made a vow to the Lord: If you will definitely hand this people over into my hand, then I will completely destroy their towns. Moses made a serpent of bronze and put it on a pole. If a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.
