The charge of the priests
The Lord said to Aaron, 'You, your sons and your father's house with you will bear the wrongdoing of the sanctuary, and you and your sons with you will bear the wrongdoing of your priesthood.' And bring your brothers too, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, with you — so they can be joined to you and serve you. But you and your sons with you will be before the tent of the testimony. They will keep your charge and the charge of the whole tent. Only they will not approach the vessels of the sanctuary or the altar, so they don't die, and you too. They will be joined to you and keep the charge of the tent of meeting, for all the service of the tent. And no stranger will approach you. And their flesh will be yours, like the wave breast and like the right thigh. All the heave offerings of the holy things that the Israelites offer to the Lord, I have given to you and to your sons and to your daughters with you, as a permanent rule. It is a covenant of salt forever before the Lord for you and for your offspring with you. The Lord said to Aaron, 'You will have no inheritance in their land and no part among them. I am your part and your inheritance among the Israelites.'
