The silver trumpets
The Lord spoke to Moses: Make yourself two silver trumpets. You will make them of beaten work. And you will use them for calling the community and for setting the camps out. When they blow both of them, the whole community will come together to you at the door of the tent of meeting. If they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Israel, will gather to you. When you blow an alarm, then the camps on the east side will move on. When you blow an alarm the second time, then the camps on the south side will move on. They will blow an alarm for their setting out. But when the community is to be brought together, you will blow, but you will not sound an alarm. The sons of Aaron, the priests, will blow the trumpets. They will be a permanent rule for you through your generations. If you go to war in your land against the one who is pressing you, then you will blow an alarm with the trumpets. And you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from those against you. And on the day you are glad, and at your set feasts and at the beginning of your months, you will blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings. They will be a reminder of you before your God. I am the Lord your God.

First went the banner of the camp of the sons of Judah, through their divisions. And Nahshon son of Amminadab was over his division. Nethaneel son of Zuar was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Issachar. Eliab son of Helon was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun. The tent was taken down, and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari moved on, carrying the tent. The banner of the camp of Reuben moved on through their divisions. And Elizur son of Shedeur was over his division. Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Simeon. Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Gad. The Kohathites moved on, carrying the sanctuary. And the others set up the tent before they came. The banner of the camp of the sons of Ephraim moved on through their divisions. And Elishama son of Ammihud was over his division. Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh. Abidan son of Gideoni was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin. The banner of the camp of the sons of Dan moved on, the rear guard of all the camps, through their divisions. And Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai was over his division. Pagiel son of Ocran was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Asher. Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali. This was how the Israelites moved on, through their divisions, when they moved on. Moses said to Hobab son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, 'We are heading for the place the Lord promised to give us. Come with us and we will treat you well, because the Lord has promised good things for Israel.' Hobab said, 'No. I will go back to my own land and my own people.' Moses replied, 'Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in this wilderness, and you can be our eyes.' 'If you come with us, whatever good the Lord gives us, we will share with you.' So they left the mountain of the Lord and travelled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the Lord went ahead of them those three days to find them a resting place. The cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they moved on from the camp. Whenever the ark set out, Moses said, 'Rise up, Lord. Let your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate you flee before you.' Whenever it rested, he said, 'Return, O Lord, to the many thousands of Israel.'

The Kohathites moved on, carrying the sanctuary. And the others set up the tent before they came.
And the Kohathites set out, carrying the holy place. And the others set up the tent before they came.
And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other did set up the tabernacle against they came.

And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward, which was the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
Pagiel son of Ocran was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Asher.

And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.
Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali.
And Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali.
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
This was how the Israelites moved on, through their divisions, when they moved on.
This was how the people of Israel set out, through their divisions, when they set out.
Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward.
Moses said to Hobab son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, 'We are heading for the place the Lord promised to give us. Come with us and we will treat you well, because the Lord has promised good things for Israel.'

The cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they moved on from the camp.

Whenever the ark set out, Moses said, 'Rise up, Lord. Let your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate you flee before you.'
And when the ark set out, Moses said: Get up, Lord, and let the ones against you be scattered. And let the ones who hate you run from in front of you.
And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.
Whenever it rested, he said, 'Return, O Lord, to the many thousands of Israel.'
And when it rested, he said: Come back, Lord, to the many thousands of Israel.
