Baruch writes the scroll
In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD: Take a scroll and write on it all the words I've spoken to you about Israel and about Judah and about all the nations, from the day I spoke to you in the days of Josiah right up to today. Maybe the people of Judah will hear all the trouble I'm planning to do to them, so each man turns back from his wicked way — and I'll forgive their wrongdoing and their sin. So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote from Jeremiah's mouth on a scroll all the words of the LORD that he'd spoken to him. And Jeremiah ordered Baruch: I'm shut in. And he went down to the king's house, into the scribe's room, and there were all the officials sitting — Elishama the scribe and Delaiah son of Shemaiah and Elnathan son of Achbor and Gemariah son of Shaphan and Zedekiah son of Hananiah and all the officials. And Michaiah told them all the words he'd heard when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people. So all the officials sent Jehudi son of Nethaniah son of Shelemiah son of Cushi to Baruch: Take the scroll you read in the ears of the people and come. So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and came to them. And they said to him: Sit down, please, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears. And when they'd heard all the words, they looked at each other in fear and said to Baruch: We'll have to tell the king all these words. And they asked Baruch: Tell us now, how did you write all these words — from his mouth? And Baruch said to them: He spoke all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them in the book with ink. Then the officials said to Baruch: Go and hide, you and Jeremiah, and don't let anyone know where you are.

It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people. And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD’s house. And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem. Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, with a fire burning on the hearth before him. Whenever Jehudi had read three or four leaves, the king cut them with the penknife and threw them into the fire on the hearth, until the whole scroll was consumed in the fire. And they weren't frightened and didn't tear their clothes — not the king or any of his servants who heard all these words. Even so, Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had pleaded with the king not to burn the scroll, and he wouldn't listen to them. And the king ordered Jerahmeel the king's son and Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But the LORD had hidden them.

So this is what the LORD says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He won't have a man to sit on David's throne. And his dead body will be thrown out to the heat by day and the frost by night. And I'll deal with him and his offspring and his servants for their wrongdoing. And I'll bring on them and on the people of Jerusalem and on the men of Judah all the trouble I've spoken against them — and they didn't listen. So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, and he wrote on it from Jeremiah's mouth all the words of the book Jehoiakim king of Judah had burnt in the fire. And many more words like them were added.

And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not. Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.

So this is what the LORD says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He won't have a man to sit on David's throne. And his dead body will be thrown out to the heat by day and the frost by night.
