And the LORD spoke to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the guard: This is what the LORD says — the one who does it, the LORD who shapes it to set it up, the LORD is his name: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things that you do not know. Because this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the houses of this city and the houses of the kings of Judah, those pulled down for the siege ramps and for the sword: They come to fight the Chaldeans, but it's only to fill them with the dead bodies of the men I've struck down in my anger and my fury — because I've hidden my face from this city for all their wickedness. Look: I'll bring health and healing to it, and I'll heal them and show them abundant peace and truth. And I'll bring Judah and Israel back from where they've been taken, and build them the way they were at first. And I'll make them clean of all the wrongdoing they did when they sinned against me. And I'll forgive all the wrongdoing they did when they sinned and rebelled against me. And it'll be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth, when they hear all the good I'm doing for them. And they'll be frightened and shaking over all the good and all the peace I get for it. This is what the LORD says: In this place you say is a desolation with no man and no beast — in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are empty, with no man and nobody living there and no beast — there'll be heard again The sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those saying, Thank the LORD Almighty, because the LORD is good and his faithful love lasts forever — those bringing thank offerings into the house of the LORD. Because I'll bring the land back from where it's been taken, the way it was at first, says the LORD. Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. A righteous Branch for David
“The days are coming,” says the LORD, “when I will perform that good thing I promised to the people of Israel and to the people of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up to David, and he will execute judgment and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live safely. And this is the name she will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Because this is what the LORD says: David won't be short of a man to sit on the throne of the people of Israel. And the priests, the Levites, won't be short of a man before me to bring up burnt offerings and burn grain offerings and make sacrifice all the time.
