The suffering servant
Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? He'll grow up before him like a tender plant, and like a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness, and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. We hid our faces from him; he was despised, and we did not esteem him. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we regarded him as stricken, struck by God and afflicted. But he was wounded for our wrongdoings; he was bruised for our wrongdoings. The punishment that brought us peace was on him, and with his wounds we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray. We've each turned to our own way, and the LORD has laid all our wrongdoing on him. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth. He was brought like a lamb to the slaughter, and like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not open his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment. And who will declare his generation? He was cut off from the land of the living; for the wrongdoing of my people he was stricken. He made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death, because he had done no violence and there was no deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he will see his seed, prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD will prosper in his hand. He will see the suffering of his soul and be satisfied. By his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, because he will bear their wrongdoings. So I'll give him a share with the great, and he'll divide the plunder with the strong, because he poured out his life to death and was counted with rebels. He carried the sin of many and stepped in for the rebels.
Who has believed what we heard? And who has the arm of the Lord been shown to? Because he grew up in front of him like a tender shoot, like a root out of dry ground. He had no form or splendour that we should look at him, nothing in the sight of him that we should want him. He was despised and left alone by men, a man of sorrows who knew what sickness was. And like someone people hide their faces from, he was despised, and we didn't count him as anything. But it was our sicknesses he carried and our sorrows he took on himself, and we reckoned he'd been struck down, hit by God and brought low. But he was pierced for our rebellions and crushed for our wrongdoing. The punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. All of us, like sheep, have gone off. Every one of us has turned to his own way. And the Lord has laid on him the wrongdoing of us all. He was pressed hard and he was brought low, and he didn't open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter, like a sheep silent in front of the ones shearing it, he didn't open his mouth. He was taken away by force and by judgment. And who of his generation gave it a thought? Because he was cut off out of the land of the living. For the rebellion of my people the blow fell on him. They gave him a grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, though he'd done no violence and there was no deceit in his mouth. But it was the Lord's will to crush him and make him suffer. When his life is made an offering for wrongdoing, he'll see his offspring and his days will be long, and the will of the Lord will go ahead in his hand. After the trouble of his soul he'll see and be satisfied. By his knowledge my righteous servant will put many right, and he'll carry their wrongdoing. So I'll give him a share with the great, and he'll divide the plunder with the strong — because he poured out his soul to death and was counted with the rebels. He carried the sin of many and stood in the gap for the rebels.
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
Who has believed what we heard? And who has the arm of the Lord been shown to?
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
He'll grow up before him like a tender plant, and like a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness, and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Because he grew up in front of him like a tender shoot, like a root out of dry ground. He had no form or splendour that we should look at him, nothing in the sight of him that we should want him.
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death, because he had done no violence and there was no deceit in his mouth.
They gave him a grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, though he'd done no violence and there was no deceit in his mouth.
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he will see his seed, prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
But it was the Lord's will to crush him and make him suffer. When his life is made an offering for wrongdoing, he'll see his offspring and his days will be long, and the will of the Lord will go ahead in his hand.
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
