And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Have children. Fill the earth. Everything that lives on the earth will fear you and dread you — every bird in the sky, everything that moves on the ground, every fish in the sea. They're in your hands. Everything that moves and lives is yours to eat. I've given you all of it, just as I gave you the green plants. But you're not to eat meat with its life still in it — with its blood. And for your own lifeblood I'll hold someone to account. I'll hold every animal to account, and I'll hold each person to account for the life of another. Whoever sheds a man's blood, by man his blood will be shed — because God made people in His own image. As for you: have children and multiply. Spread out over the earth and multiply on it.”

The bow in the clouds
And God said to Noah and his sons with him, “Look — I'm setting up my covenant with you, and with your descendants after you, and with every living thing that was with you: the birds, the livestock, every wild animal that came out of the boat with you — every living thing on earth. I'm setting up my covenant with you: never again will everything living be wiped out by floodwater. Never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I'm making between me and you and every living thing with you, for all the generations to come. I've set my bow in the clouds, and it'll be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the bow shows up in the clouds, I'll remember my covenant between me and you and every living thing of every kind. Never again will the water become a flood to destroy everything living. When the bow is in the clouds, I'll look at it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living thing of every kind on the earth.” And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I've set up between me and everything living on the earth.”

The vineyard
Noah's sons who came out of the boat were Shem, Ham and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan. These three were Noah's sons, and from them the whole earth was populated. Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard. He drank some of the wine, got drunk, and lay uncovered inside his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked, and went out and told his two brothers. So Shem and Japheth took a cloak, laid it across both their shoulders, walked in backwards and covered their father. Their faces were turned away, and they didn't see their father naked.

What Noah said
When Noah woke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, he said, “Cursed be Canaan. He'll be the lowest of slaves to his brothers.” And he said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem. And let Canaan be his slave. May God make room for Japheth. Let him live in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his slave.” After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years. All up, Noah lived nine hundred and fifty years. And then he died.
