The waters go down
And God remembered Noah and every living thing and all the stock with him in the ark. And God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters started to go down. The springs of the deep and the windows of the sky were shut off too, and the rain was held back. And the waters went back off the earth steadily. And after a hundred and fifty days they were well down. And the ark came to rest in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day, up on the mountains of Ararat. And the water kept dropping away till the tenth month. And on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains showed. And after forty days Noah opened the window he'd made in the ark. And he sent out a raven, and it went back and forth till the water dried up off the earth. Then he sent out a dove, to see if the water had gone down off the ground. But the dove couldn't find anywhere to put her foot down, and she came back to him at the ark, because there was still water over the whole face of the earth. So he put his hand out, took hold of her and brought her in. And he hung on another seven days, and sent the dove out again. And the dove came back to him at evening, and there in her beak was an olive leaf she'd picked. So Noah knew the water had gone down off the earth. And he hung on another seven days and sent the dove out. And that was the last he saw of her. And in the six hundred and first year, on the first day of the first month, the water was dried up off the earth. And Noah took the cover off the ark and had a look, and there it was — the ground was dry. And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day, the ground had dried right out.

So Noah knew the waters had gone down off the earth. And he waited another seven days and sent out the dove, and she didn't come back to him again. And in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the waters were dried up off the earth. And Noah took the covering off the ark and looked. And look — the face of the ground was dry. And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.

And God spoke to Noah: Come out of the ark — you and your wife, your sons and your sons' wives with you. Bring out every living thing you've got with you — birds and stock and every creeping thing — so they can breed up and grow and fill the earth. And Noah came out, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him. Every animal, every creeping thing and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, came out of the ark family by family. And Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took some of every clean animal and every clean bird, and offered them up on it. And the Lord smelled the sweet smell. And the Lord said in his heart: I won't curse the ground again because of man, though what's in man's heart is bad from his youth. And I won't strike down everything alive again, the way I've done. While the earth lasts, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night won't stop.

And the Lord said in his heart: I won't curse the ground any more because of man, because the thought of man's heart is evil from his youth. And I won't strike down every living thing any more, the way I've done. While the earth stays, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night won't stop.

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
