And the whole earth had the one language, and everyone used the same words. And as they moved on from the east they came across a plain in the land of Shinar, and settled there. And they said to each other: Right — let's make bricks and bake them hard. So they got stuck into it, with brick for stone and tar for mortar. And they said: Come on, let's build ourselves a town, and a tower with its top up in the sky, and make a name for ourselves — or we'll end up scattered all over the place.
