The mountains of Israel
And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say: You mountains of Israel, listen to the word of the LORD. This is what the Lord GOD says: Because the enemy has said about you, Aha — even the old high places are ours to own — So prophesy and say: This is what the Lord GOD says. Because they've made you a desolation and swallowed you up from every side, so you'd be owned by the rest of the nations, and you've been taken up on the lips of talkers and in the bad talk of the people — So you mountains of Israel, listen to the word of the Lord GOD. This is what the Lord GOD says to the mountains and the hills, to the streams and the valleys, to the wasted ruins and the cities that are left behind, that turned into plunder and something to laugh at for the rest of the nations round about — So this is what the Lord GOD says: I've spoken in the fire of my jealousy against the rest of the nations and against the whole of Edom, who've taken my land for themselves to own, with the joy of their whole heart and with contempt in their soul, to throw it out as plunder. And the cities will be lived in and the ruins built again. And I'll multiply people and animals on you; they'll increase and be fruitful. I'll settle you the way you used to be and do better for you than at your beginnings. And you'll know that I'm the LORD. Yes, I'll make men walk on you, my people Israel. And they'll own you, and you'll be their inheritance, and you won't leave them with no children any more. This is what the Lord GOD says: Because they say to you, You eat men and you leave your nations with no children — So you won't eat men any more or leave your nations with no children any more, says the Lord GOD. And I won't let the insults of the nations be heard in you any more, and you won't carry the abuse of the peoples any more. And you won't make your nations fall any more, says the Lord GOD.

Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast bereaved thy nations; Therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations any more, saith the Lord GOD. Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith the Lord GOD.

But I felt for my holy name, that the people of Israel had made common among the nations they went to. So say to the people of Israel, “This is what the Lord GOD says: I do not do this for your sakes, people of Israel, but for my holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went. I will make my great name holy again — the name that was profaned among the nations, the name you profaned among them. The nations will know that I am the LORD, says the Lord GOD, when I show my holiness through you before their eyes.

A new heart
I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries and bring you into your own land. Then I'll sprinkle clean water on you, and you'll be clean. I'll cleanse you from all your filth and from all your idols. I will also give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. I will take the stony heart out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you and cause you to live by my rules, and you will keep my judgments and do them. You will live in the land I gave your fathers. You will be my people, and I will be your God. I will save you from all your impurities. I will call for the grain and increase it, and I will lay no famine upon you. I will multiply the fruit of the trees and the crops of the fields, so you will no longer suffer the shame of famine among the nations. Then you'll remember your wicked ways and what you did that wasn't good, and you'll loathe yourselves in your own sight for your wrongdoings and your disgusting things. I'm not doing this for your sake, says the Lord GOD — let that be known to you. Be ashamed and let down over your ways, people of Israel. This is what the Lord GOD says: On the day I make you clean of all your wrongdoings, I'll make the cities lived in too, and the ruins will be built again. And the land that was a desolation will be worked, instead of lying a desolation before the eyes of everyone going past. And they'll say: This land that was a desolation has turned into the garden of Eden. And the cities that were laid waste and destroyed and pulled down are fortified and lived in. Then the nations left round you will know that I the LORD have built the pulled-down places and planted what was a desolation. I the LORD have spoken it, and I'll do it. This is what the Lord GOD says: “I will yet be enquired of by the people of Israel to do this for them: I will increase them with men like a flock. Like a holy flock, like the flock of Jerusalem at her festivals, that's how the wasted cities will be full of flocks of men. And they'll know that I'm the LORD.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: On the day I make you clean of all your wrongdoings, I'll make the cities lived in too, and the ruins will be built again.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.
And the land that was a desolation will be worked, instead of lying a desolation before the eyes of everyone going past.
And the land that was a wreck will be worked, instead of lying a wreck in front of the eyes of everyone going past.
And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.
And they'll say: This land that was a desolation has turned into the garden of Eden. And the cities that were laid waste and destroyed and pulled down are fortified and lived in.
And they'll say: This land that was a wreck has turned into the garden of Eden. And the towns that were laid waste and wrecked and pulled down are fortified and lived in.
And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.
Then the nations left round you will know that I the LORD have built the pulled-down places and planted what was a desolation. I the LORD have spoken it, and I'll do it.

Like a holy flock, like the flock of Jerusalem at her festivals, that's how the wasted cities will be full of flocks of men. And they'll know that I'm the LORD.
