The valley of dry bones
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he carried me out in the spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of the valley, which was full of bones. He caused me to pass around them, and there were very many in the open valley — and they were very dry. He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I answered, “O Lord GOD, you know.” Again he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. This is what the Lord GOD says to these bones: Look, I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live. I will lay sinews upon you, bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you, and you will live. Then you will know that I am the LORD.” So I prophesied as I was commanded. As I prophesied there was a noise, and then a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. I looked, and sinews and flesh came upon them, and skin covered them above, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the wind. Prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind: This is what the Lord GOD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these killed, so they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath came into them. They lived and stood on their feet — a huge army. Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried, our hope is lost, and we are cut off for our parts.’ So prophesy and say to them: This is what the Lord GOD says: Look, my people, I will open your graves, cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And you'll know that I'm the LORD, when I've opened your graves, my people, and brought you up out of your graves. I will put my spirit in you, and you will live. I will place you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken it and performed it, says the LORD.”

This is what the Lord God says to these bones: Look — I'll make breath come into you, and you'll live. And I'll put sinews on you and bring flesh up on you and cover you with skin and put breath in you, and you'll live. And you'll know that I'm the Lord. So I prophesied the way I was ordered. And while I was prophesying there was a noise, and look — a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and there were sinews on them and flesh came up and skin covered them over — and there was no breath in them. Then he said to me: Prophesy to the breath. Prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath: This is what the Lord God says. Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these killed ones so they live. So I prophesied the way he ordered me, and the breath came into them and they lived and stood on their feet, a very, very big army. Then he said to me: Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look — they're saying: Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone. We're cut right off. So prophesy and tell them: This is what the Lord God says. Look — my people, I'll open your graves and bring you up out of your graves and bring you into the land of Israel. And you'll know that I'm the Lord, when I've opened your graves, my people, and brought you up out of your graves. And I'll put my Spirit in you and you'll live, and I'll settle you in your own land. And you'll know that I the Lord have spoken it and done it, says the Lord.

Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried, our hope is lost, and we are cut off for our parts.’
Then he said to me: Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look — they're saying: Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone. We're cut right off.
Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
So prophesy and say to them: This is what the Lord GOD says: Look, my people, I will open your graves, cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

I will put my spirit in you, and you will live. I will place you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken it and performed it, says the LORD.”
And I'll put my Spirit in you and you'll live, and I'll settle you in your own land. And you'll know that I the Lord have spoken it and done it, says the Lord.
And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
The two sticks
And the LORD spoke to me: And you, son of man, take one stick and write on it: For Judah and for the people of Israel with him. Then take another stick and write on it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for the whole people of Israel with him. And join them one to the other into one stick, and they'll be one in your hand. And when your people say to you, Won't you tell us what these mean for you? — Tell them: This is what the Lord GOD says. Look: I'll take the stick of Joseph that's in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel with him, and I'll put them with the stick of Judah and make them one stick. And they'll be one in my hand. And the sticks you write on will be in your hand before their eyes. And tell them: This is what the Lord GOD says. Look: I'll take the people of Israel from among the nations they've gone to, and gather them from every side and bring them into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel, and one king will be king over them all. They will no longer be two nations or divided into two kingdoms. They will no longer defile themselves with their idols, their detestable things or any of their wrongdoings. I will save them out of all their dwelling places where they have sinned and cleanse them. They will be my people, and I will be their God. David my servant will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd. They will walk in my judgments, keep my rules and do them. And they'll live in the land I gave my servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. And they'll live in it — they and their children and their children's children forever. And my servant David will be their prince forever. I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant. I will establish them, multiply them and set my sanctuary among them forever. My dwelling will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. The nations will know that I the LORD make Israel holy, when my sanctuary is among them forever.

And they won't make themselves filthy any more with their idols and their rotten things and any of their stepping over the line. But I'll save them out of all the places they've lived in and sinned in, and I'll make them clean. And they'll be my people and I'll be their God. And my servant David will be king over them, and all of them will have one shepherd. And they'll walk in my judgments and keep my rules and do them. And they'll live in the land I gave my servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. And they'll live in it — they and their children and their children's children forever. And my servant David will be their leader forever. And I'll cut a covenant of peace with them. It'll be an everlasting covenant with them. And I'll settle them and make them plenty, and I'll set my holy place in the middle of them forever. And where I live will be with them. Yes, I'll be their God and they'll be my people. And the nations will know that I the Lord make Israel holy, when my holy place is in the middle of them forever.

And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

The nations will know that I the LORD make Israel holy, when my sanctuary is among them forever.

And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
