Shepherds who feed themselves
And the LORD spoke to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says to the shepherds: Trouble is coming to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Shouldn’t the shepherds feed the flocks? You eat the fat and dress yourselves in the wool. You kill the fat ones. You don't feed the flock. You have not strengthened the diseased, healed the sick, bound up the broken, brought back what was driven away, or sought what was lost. Instead you have ruled them with force and cruelty. And they were scattered because there was no shepherd. And they turned into food for every animal of the field when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the mountains and on every high hill. Yes, my flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and nobody went looking or searching for them. So you shepherds, listen to the word of the LORD. As surely as I live, says the Lord GOD — because my flock turned into prey and my flock turned into food for every animal of the field, because there was no shepherd, and my shepherds didn't go looking for my flock but fed themselves and didn't feed my flock — So you shepherds, listen to the word of the LORD. This is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I'm against the shepherds, and I'll want my flock from their hand. And I'll make them stop feeding the flock, and the shepherds won't feed themselves any more. I'll get my flock out of their mouth, so they won't be food for them.

And I'll bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and bring them into their own land. And I'll feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams and in every place in the country where people live. I'll feed them in a good pasture, and their fold will be on the high mountains of Israel. They'll lie down there in a good fold, and they'll feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I myself will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, says the Lord GOD. I will seek what was lost, bring back what was driven away, bind up what was broken and strengthen what was sick. But I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment. And as for you, my flock — this is what the Lord GOD says. Look, I'll judge between one sheep and another, between the rams and the goats. Does it seem a small thing to you to have eaten up the good pasture, that you have to trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? And to have drunk the clear water, that you have to muddy the rest with your feet? And as for my flock, they eat what you've trampled with your feet and drink what you've muddied with your feet. So this is what the Lord GOD says to them: Look, I'll judge between the fat sheep and the thin sheep myself. Because you've pushed with your side and your shoulder and shoved all the sick ones with your horns till you'd scattered them off — So I'll save my flock, and they won't be prey any more. And I'll judge between one sheep and another.
Because this is what the Lord God says: Look, I'll look for my sheep myself and go after them. Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad; Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.

The tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase. They will be safe in their land, and they will know that I am the LORD when I have broken the bands of their yoke and delivered them from the hand of those who made servants of them. And they won't be prey to the nations any more, and the animals of the earth won't eat them. But they'll live safely, and nobody will frighten them. I will raise up for them a plant of renown. They will no longer be consumed with hunger in the land or bear the shame of the nations any more. And they'll know that I the LORD their God am with them, and that they, the people of Israel, are my people, says the Lord GOD. And you, my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I'm your God, says the Lord GOD.
