Eat this scroll
He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find. Eat this roll, then go and speak to the people of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and he made me eat that scroll. He said, “Son of man, feed your belly and fill yourself with this roll I give you.” So I ate it, and in my mouth it was as sweet as honey. And he said to me: Son of man, go to the people of Israel and speak my words to them. Because you're not sent to a people of a deep language and a hard tongue, but to the people of Israel — not to many peoples of a strange speech and a hard language whose words you cannot understand. Surely, if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you. But the people of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to me. All Israel is stubborn and hard-hearted. Look: I've made your face hard against their faces, and your forehead hard against their foreheads. I have made your forehead like adamant, harder than flint. Do not fear them or be dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house.” And he said to me: Son of man, take into your heart all my words that I'll speak to you, and hear them with your ears. And go to the exiles, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them: This is what the Lord GOD says — whether they listen or don't listen. Then the spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great rushing: “Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.” I heard the sound of the wings of the living creatures brushing against each other, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of a great rushing. So the spirit lifted me up and took me away. I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit, but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me. Then I came to the captives at Telabib, who lived by the river Chebar, and I sat where they sat. I remained there astonished among them for seven days.

If I'd sent you to them, they'd have listened to you, no question. But the house of Israel won't listen to you, because they won't listen to me. I've made your forehead like a diamond, harder than flint. Don't be frightened of them and don't fall apart at the look on their faces, because they're a rebellious house. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee. But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that wicked man will die in his wrongdoing, but I will require his blood at your hand. But if you warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or his wicked way, he will die in his wrongdoing, but you have delivered your soul. Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits wrongdoing, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he will die. Because you did not warn him, he will die in his sin, and his righteousness will not be remembered, but I will require his blood at your hand. But if you warn the righteous man not to sin, and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you have delivered your soul.” The hand of the LORD was upon me there, and he said to me, “Rise, go out into the plain, and I will speak with you there.” So I rose and went out into the valley, and there was the glory of the LORD standing there, like the glory I saw by the river Chebar. And I fell on my face. Then the Spirit came into me and stood me on my feet, and spoke to me and said: Go and shut yourself inside your house. But you, son of man — look, they'll put ropes on you and tie you up with them, so you can't go out among them. I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, so you will be dumb and unable to reprove them, because they are a rebellious house. But when I speak to you, I'll open your mouth, and you'll say to them: This is what the Lord GOD says. Whoever listens, let him listen. And whoever won't, let him not. Because they're a rebellious house.

Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee. Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face. Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house. But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them: And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house. But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

But if you warn the righteous man not to sin, and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you have delivered your soul.”

The hand of the LORD was upon me there, and he said to me, “Rise, go out into the plain, and I will speak with you there.”
And the hand of the Lord was on me there, and he said to me: Get up and go out into the valley, and I'll speak to you there.
And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.
So I rose and went out into the valley, and there was the glory of the LORD standing there, like the glory I saw by the river Chebar. And I fell on my face.

But you, son of man — look, they'll put ropes on you and tie you up with them, so you can't go out among them.
But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:
I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, so you will be dumb and unable to reprove them, because they are a rebellious house.
And I'll make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth, so you'll go dumb and won't be a man who pulls them up, because they're a rebellious house.
