The ship of Tyre
And the LORD spoke to me: Now son of man, take up a lament for Tyrus And say to Tyrus, you who sit at the entrance of the sea, trader for the peoples of many islands: This is what the Lord GOD says. Tyrus, you've said, I'm perfect in beauty. Your borders are in the middle of the seas. Your builders consumed your beauty. They made all your planks out of fir trees from Senir. They took cedars from Lebanon to make masts for you. They made your oars from the oaks of Bashan. The company of the Ashurites made your benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim. Your sail was embroidered fine linen from Egypt, to be your banner. Your awning was blue and purple from the islands of Elishah. The people of Zidon and Arvad were your rowers. Your own skilled men, Tyrus, were in you, and they were your sailors. The elders of Gebal and their skilled men were in you, doing your caulking. All the ships of the sea and their sailors were in you to trade your goods. Persia, Lud and Phut were in your army, your men of war. They hung the shield and helmet in you and set forth your splendour. The men of Arvad with your own army were on your walls all round, and the Gammadim were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all round. They consumed your beauty. Tarshish traded with you because of all the riches you had. They swapped silver and iron and tin and lead for your goods. Javan and Tubal and Meshech were your traders. They swapped the souls of men and vessels of bronze for what you had. The house of Togarmah swapped horses and horsemen and mules for your goods. The men of Dedan were your traders, and many islands were your market. They brought you ivory tusks and ebony as payment. Syria traded with you because of all the things you made. They swapped emeralds and purple and embroidered work and fine linen and coral and rubies for your goods. Judah and the land of Israel were your traders. They swapped wheat of Minnith and Pannag and honey and oil and balm for what you had. Damascus traded with you for all the things you made, because of all the riches you had — wine of Helbon and white wool.
And the word of the Lord came to me: Now son of man, take up a lament for Tyre and say to Tyre, you who sit at the entrance of the sea, trader for the peoples of plenty of islands: This is what the Lord God says. Tyre, you've said, I'm perfect in beauty. Your borders are in the middle of the seas. Your builders finished off your beauty. They made all your planks out of fir trees from Senir. They took cedars from Lebanon to make masts for you. They made your oars out of oaks of Bashan. They made your benches out of ivory set in boxwood from the islands of Cyprus. Your sail was embroidered fine linen from Egypt, to be your banner. Your awning was blue and purple from the islands of Elishah. The people of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers. Your own skilled men, Tyre, were in you, and they were your sailors. The elders of Gebal and their skilled men were in you, doing your caulking. All the ships of the sea and their sailors were in you to trade your goods. Persia and Lud and Put were in your army as your fighting men. They hung the shield and the helmet in you. They gave you your splendour. The men of Arvad with your own army were on your walls all round, and the Gammadim were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all round. They finished off your beauty. Tarshish traded with you because of all the riches you had. They swapped silver and iron and tin and lead for your goods. Javan and Tubal and Meshek were your traders. The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus; And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty. Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty. They have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee. Of the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim. Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee. The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots. The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise. They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness. The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect. Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs. Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market. They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules. The men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony. Syria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate. Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm. Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.

Broken in the depths
Dan also and Javan, going to and fro, traded in your fairs. Bright iron, cassia and calamus were in your market. Dedan was your trader in fine cloths for riding. Arabia and all the princes of Kedar traded with you in lambs and rams and goats. They traded with you in these. The traders of Sheba and Raamah were your traders. They swapped the pick of all spices and every precious stone and gold for your goods. Haran, Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad, were your merchants. They were your traders in the best of everything — in blue cloths and embroidered work, in chests of rich clothing bound with cords and made of cedar, among what you traded. The ships of Tarshish sang about your market. And you were filled up and made very heavy in the middle of the seas. Your rowers have brought you into great waters. The east wind has broken you in the middle of the seas. Your riches and your goods, everything you traded, your sailors and your pilots, your caulkers and those who traded your goods, and all your fighting men in you, and all the crowd among you — they'll fall in the middle of the seas on the day you go down. The open country will shake at the sound of your pilots crying out. And all those who handle the oar will come down out of their ships. The sailors and all the pilots of the sea will stand on the land And let their voice be heard over you and cry out bitterly. And they'll throw dust on their heads and roll in the ashes. And they'll shave themselves bald for you and strap on coarse mourning cloth. And they'll weep for you with bitterness of soul and bitter wailing. And in their wailing they'll take up a lament for you and mourn for you: What city is like Tyrus, like the one destroyed in the middle of the sea? When your goods went out over the seas you filled many peoples. You made the kings of the earth rich with all your riches and what you traded. Now you're broken by the seas in the depths of the waters. What you traded and all the crowd among you have fallen. All the people of the isles will be astonished at you. Their kings will be terribly afraid, and their faces will be troubled. The merchants among the peoples will hiss at you. You'll be a horror, and you won't be there any more.
Dan and Javan swapped yarn for your goods. There was wrought iron and cassia and calamus in your market. Dedan was your trader in fine cloths for riding. Arabia and all the leaders of Kedar traded with you in lambs and rams and goats. They traded with you in these. The traders of Sheba and Raamah were your traders. They swapped the pick of all spices and every precious stone and gold for your goods. Harran and Kanneh and Eden, the traders of Sheba, Assyria and Kilmad were your traders. Now you're broken by the seas in the depths of the waters. What you traded and all the crowd in the middle of you have fallen. You'll be a horror, and you won't be there any more.
