The frogs
The Lord told Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh and say: This is what the Lord says — Let my people go, so they can serve me.' 'If you refuse to let them go, I'll strike your whole territory with frogs.' The Nile will bring out frogs in swarms, that'll go up and come into your house and into your bedroom and onto your bed, and into the houses of your servants and on your people, and into your ovens and into your kneading troughs. The frogs will come up both on you and on your people and on all your servants. The Lord spoke to Moses: Say to Aaron: Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams, over the Niles and over the ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt. Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt. And the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. The magicians did the same with their secret arts and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron. 'Ask the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people,' he said, 'and I'll let the people go sacrifice to the Lord.' Moses said to Pharaoh: Have this honour over me. When will I plead for you and for your servants and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, so they only stay in the Nile? He said: Tomorrow. And he said: Let it be as you say, so you know there's nobody like the Lord our God. The frogs will go from you and from your houses and from your servants and from your people. They'll only stay in the Nile. Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh. And Moses cried out to the Lord about the frogs he'd brought against Pharaoh. The Lord did what Moses said. And the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages and out of the fields. They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank. But when Pharaoh saw there was relief, he hardened his heart and wouldn't listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only. And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh: and Moses cried unto the LORD because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh. And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields. And they gathered them together upon heaps: and the land stank. But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

On that day I'll set apart the land of Goshen, where my people live, so no swarms of flies will be there — so you know I'm the Lord here on earth. I'll put a division between my people and your people. This sign will be tomorrow. The Lord did that. And a heavy swarm of flies came into the house of Pharaoh and into his servants' houses and into all the land of Egypt. The land was destroyed because of the swarm of flies. Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron and said, 'All right. Go sacrifice to your God — but do it here in the land.' Moses said, 'That won't work. The sacrifice we offer to the Lord our God is disgusting to the Egyptians. If we sacrifice what they despise right in front of them, won't they stone us?' 'We'll go three days into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord our God, just as he tells us.' Pharaoh said, 'I'll let you go sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness — just don't go too far. And pray for me.' Moses said, 'I am leaving you now, and I will pray to the Lord that the swarms leave Pharaoh, his servants and his people tomorrow. But Pharaoh must not deal deceitfully again by refusing to let the people go sacrifice to the Lord.' Moses left Pharaoh and pleaded with the Lord. The Lord did what Moses said, and took the swarms of flies away from Pharaoh, from his servants and from his people. Not one was left. But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time as well, and he would not let the people go.

And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD. And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD. And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one. And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.

And Moses said: It isn't right to do that. Because we'd sacrifice what's disgusting to the Egyptians to the Lord our God. Look — if we sacrifice what's disgusting to the Egyptians in front of their eyes, won't they stone us?

Moses left Pharaoh and pleaded with the Lord.
