The rod and the snakes
The Lord said to Moses, 'See, I have made you as a god to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet.' 'You will say everything I command you, and Aaron will tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his land.' 'I will harden Pharaoh's heart and multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt.' 'But Pharaoh won't listen to you. Then I'll lay my hand on Egypt and bring my armies — my people, the Israelites — out of Egypt by great judgments.' 'The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out from among them.' Moses and Aaron did exactly as the Lord commanded them. Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh. The Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron: 'When Pharaoh says to you, “Show me a miracle,” tell Aaron, “Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,” and it will become a serpent.' So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did exactly as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh called in his wise men and sorcerers. The magicians of Egypt did the same with their enchantments. Each man threw down his staff and they became serpents, but Aaron's staff swallowed their staffs. But Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he refused to listen to them, just as the Lord had said.
And the Lord said to Moses: Look — I've made you like God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet. You'll speak everything I order you. And Aaron your brother will speak to Pharaoh, so he sends the people of Israel out of his land. And I'll harden Pharaoh's heart and make my signs and my wonders many in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh won't listen to you, so I can lay my hand on Egypt and bring out my armies, my people the people of Israel, out of the land of Egypt with great judgments. And the Egyptians will know I'm the Lord, when I stretch out my hand on Egypt and bring the people of Israel out from among them. And Moses and Aaron did what the Lord ordered them. That's what they did. And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh. And the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron: When Pharaoh speaks to you and says, Show a wonder for yourselves — then you'll say to Aaron: Take your rod and throw it down in front of Pharaoh, and it'll turn into a snake. And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did what the Lord had ordered. And Aaron threw his rod down in front of Pharaoh and in front of his servants, and it turned into a snake. Then Pharaoh called the wise men and the sorcerers too. And the magicians of Egypt did the same with their secret arts. Because they each threw down his rod, and they turned into snakes. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, so he didn't listen to them, the way the Lord had said.

Moses and Aaron did exactly as the Lord commanded them.

And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.
Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.

Each man threw down his staff and they became serpents, but Aaron's staff swallowed their staffs.
Because they each threw down his rod, and they turned into snakes. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.
For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
But Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he refused to listen to them, just as the Lord had said.
And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, so he didn't listen to them, the way the Lord had said.
And he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
The water turned to blood
The Lord told Moses, 'Pharaoh's heart is hardened. He refuses to let the people go.' 'Go to Pharaoh in the morning. He'll be going out to the water. Stand by the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that became a serpent.' Tell him, 'The Lord God of the Hebrews has sent me to say: Let my people go so they can serve me in the wilderness. So far you haven't listened.' 'This is what the Lord says: By this you'll know that I am the Lord. I will strike the waters of the Nile with the staff in my hand, and they'll turn to blood.' 'The fish in the Nile will die, the river will stink, and the Egyptians will loathe drinking its water.' The Lord spoke to Moses: Say to Aaron: Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers and over their ponds and over all their pools of water, so they turn to blood. And there'll be blood through all the land of Egypt, both in wooden vessels and in stone. Moses and Aaron did what the Lord commanded. He lifted the staff and struck the waters in the Nile in front of Pharaoh and his servants. And all the waters in the Nile turned to blood. The fish in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, and the Egyptians couldn't drink the water of the Nile. And there was blood through all the land of Egypt. But the Egyptian magicians did the same with their enchantments. Pharaoh's heart remained hardened, and he wouldn't listen to them, just as the Lord had said. Pharaoh turned around, went back into his house, and didn't take even this to heart. All the Egyptians dug all around the Nile for water to drink, because they couldn't drink the water of the Nile. And seven days were up after the Lord had struck the Nile.

And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said. And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also. And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river. And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.
