Walk in love
So follow God's example, as dearly loved children, and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, a sweet-smelling aroma. But sexual immorality, and every kind of impurity or greed, shouldn't even be mentioned among you, as is fitting for saints. Nor filthy talk, nor foolish talk, nor coarse joking, which are out of place. Instead, let there be thanksgiving. Because you can be sure of this: no sexually immoral or impure or greedy person — that is, an idolater — has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Don't let anyone fool you with empty words, because it is for these things that the anger of God comes on the sons of disobedience. So don't be partners with them. Because you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, working out what pleases the Lord. And have nothing to do with the fruitless works of darkness. Show them up instead. Because it is shameful even to speak of the things they do in secret. But everything exposed is made visible by the light, and whatever makes things visible is light. That is why it says: Wake up, sleeper. Rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.
So be followers of God, as dear children. And walk in love, the way Christ has loved us too and has given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smell. But sexual sin and all uncleanness or greed, let it not be named once among you, as is fitting for holy ones. Or filthiness or foolish talking or coarse jesting, that aren't fitting. But rather giving of thanks. Because you know this, that no one who sins sexually or unclean person or greedy man, who is an idol worshipper, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Don't let any man take you in with empty words. Because because of these things the anger of God comes on the children of disobedience. So don't be partakers with them. Because you were sometimes darkness, but now you're light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. (Because the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.) Proving what's acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the fruitless works of darkness, but rather show them up. Because it's a shame even to speak of the things done by them in secret. But everything that's shown up is made plain by the light. Because whatever makes plain is light. So he says: Wake up, you who sleep, and get up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Walk carefully
So watch carefully how you walk — not as fools but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don't be foolish. Understand what the will of the Lord is. And don't get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless living. Be filled with the Spirit instead, speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.
So watch that you walk carefully, not as fools but as wise. Buying up the time, because the days are evil. So don't be unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And don't be drunk with wine, where there's excess. But be filled with the Spirit. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your heart to the Lord. Giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Putting yourselves under each other in the fear of God.
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
So watch carefully how you walk — not as fools but as wise,
So watch that you walk carefully, not as fools but as wise.
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
Buying up the time, because the days are evil.
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Husbands and wives
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church, and he is the saviour of the body. So just as the church is subject to Christ, wives should be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it, to make it holy and clean it with the washing of water by the word, so he might present it to himself as a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or anything of the kind, but holy and without blemish. In the same way, men ought to love their wives as their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself. Because nobody ever hated his own flesh. He feeds it and cares for it, just as the Lord does the church, for we are members of his body, of his flesh and of his bones. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I am speaking about Christ and the church. Still, each one of you must love his wife as himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Wives, put yourselves under your own husbands, as to the Lord. Because the husband is the head of the wife, the way Christ is the head of the church too. And he's the saviour of the body. That's how men ought to love their wives as their own bodies. The one who loves his wife loves himself. Because no man ever yet hated his own flesh, but feeds it and looks after it, the way the Lord does the church too. Because we're parts of his body, of his flesh and of his bones. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two of them will be one flesh. This is a great secret. But I speak about Christ and the church. But still let every one of you in particular love his wife the way he loves himself. And the wife see that she respects her husband.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
