Children and parents

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right. Honour your father and mother — this is the first commandment with a promise — so that it may go well with you, and you may live long on the earth. And fathers, don't provoke your children to anger. Bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord. Because this is right. Honour your father and mother (which is the first order with promise), so it can be well with you and you can live long on the earth. Servants and masters

Servants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a single heart, as you would Christ. Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, serving willingly, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will get it back from the Lord, whether he is slave or free. And masters, treat them the same way. Stop threatening them, knowing that your own Master is in heaven, and there is no favouritism with him.

Servants, obey the ones who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and shaking, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ. Not with eye service as men pleasers, but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. With good will doing service, as to the Lord and not to men. Knowing that whatever good thing any man does, that's what he'll get from the Lord, whether he's bond or free. And you masters, do the same things to them, letting go threatening — knowing that your Master is in heaven too, and there's no taking of sides with him.

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

The armour of God

Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, so you can stand against the schemes of the devil. Because we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. So take up the whole armour of God, so you can hold your ground in the evil day, and having done everything, stand. So stand, with the belt of truth buckled round you and the breastplate of righteousness in place, and your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace. Above all, take up the shield of faith, with which you can put out all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with every kind of prayer and petition. Stay awake to it, keeping on for all the saints, and for me, that words may be given me when I open my mouth, so I can boldly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains — that I may speak about it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, so you can be able to stand against the tricks of the devil. Because we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. So take up the whole armour of God, so you can be able to stand in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand. So stand, having your waist strapped about with truth and having on the breastplate of righteousness. And your feet shod with the getting ready of the good news of peace. Above everything, taking the shield of faith, that you'll be able to put out all the fiery arrows of the wicked one with. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and pleading in the Spirit, and watching to that end with all keeping on and pleading for all the holy ones. And for me, so words can be given me, that I can open my mouth boldly to make known the secret of the good news. For which I'm an ambassador in chains — so in it I can speak boldly, the way I ought to speak.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
