In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. The thing was true, but the time appointed was long. His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like lamps of fire, his arms and his feet like polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the noise of a crowd. And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision. The men who were with me didn't see it. But a great trembling fell on them, and they ran off to hide. So I was left alone, and I saw this great vision, and there was no strength left in me. My face turned deathly pale and I had no strength left. Yet I heard the sound of his words.
