Dangerous times
Know this too: in the last days perilous times will come. People will be lovers of themselves, money-hungry, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without self-control, fierce, and despisers of those who are good, treacherous, reckless, full of themselves, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God — looking religious on the outside while denying its power. Have nothing to do with people like that. These are the sort who creep into houses and lead captive silly women loaded down with sins and led away by all kinds of cravings — always learning, and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, these men stand against the truth: men with corrupted minds, who don't pass the test when it comes to the faith. But they won't get far. Their foolishness will be plain to everyone, as those two men's was.

Because of this sort are the ones who creep into houses and lead captive silly women loaded with sins, led away with different wants. Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now the way Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, that's how these stand against the truth too — men of corrupt minds, worthless about the faith. But they won't go far. Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
looking religious on the outside while denying its power. Have nothing to do with people like that.

Now the way Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, that's how these stand against the truth too — men of corrupt minds, worthless about the faith.
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

But you — stick with what you have learned and become sure of, knowing who you learned it from,

and how from the time you were a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
