The man of sin

Now about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we are asking you, brothers: do not be quickly shaken in mind or troubled — not by spirit, word, or a letter supposedly from us — as though the day of Christ is at hand. Do not let anyone take you in by any means. That day will not come until the falling away happens first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above everything called God or worshipped, so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Don't you remember I told you all this while I was still with you? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he will be revealed at his proper time. For the mystery of wrongdoing is already at work. Only the one who now holds it back will keep holding it back until he is taken out of the way. And then that Wicked one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the spirit of his mouth and destroy with the brightness of his coming. That one comes by the working of Satan, with all kinds of power and signs and lying wonders, and with all the deceit of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. For this reason God will send them strong delusion, so that they should believe a lie, and all who would not believe the truth, but took their pleasure in wrongdoing, will be condemned.

Now we beg you, brothers, about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, that you aren't soon shaken in mind or troubled — not by spirit or by word or by letter as from us — as that the day of Christ is here. Let no man take you in by any means. Because that day won't come unless there comes a falling away first, and that man of sin is shown, the son of ruin. Who stands against and lifts himself up above everything called God or that's worshipped, so he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Don't you remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what holds back, so he can be shown in his time. Because the secret of wrongdoing already works. Only the one who now holds back will hold back till he's taken out of the way. And then that Wicked one will be shown, who the Lord will use up with the spirit of his mouth and will wreck with the brightness of his coming. Whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders. And with all deceiving of wrongdoing in the ones who die, because they didn't take the love of the truth so they could be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong deceiving, so they should believe a lie. So they could all be condemned who didn't believe the truth but took pleasure in wrongdoing.

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
