Pray for us
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honoured, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he'll strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you're doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance.
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honoured, just as it was with you.
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.
And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
But the Lord is faithful, and he'll strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
We have confidence in the Lord that you're doing and will continue to do the things we command.
And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance.
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
The one who won't work
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and doesn't live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We weren't idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, labouring and toiling so that we wouldn't be a burden to any of you. We did this not because we don't have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: the one who is unwilling to work shall not eat. We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They're not busy; they're busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and doesn't live according to the teaching you received from us.
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We weren't idle when we were with you,
For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, labouring and toiling so that we wouldn't be a burden to any of you.
Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
We did this not because we don't have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.
Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: the one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They're not busy; they're busybodies.
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.
But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
Final word
Take special note of anyone who doesn't obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer. Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Take special note of anyone who doesn't obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed.
And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.
Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write.
The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
