In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah became king of Judah. He was sixteen years old when he became king and reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. He did what was right in the Lord's sight, following the example of his father Amaziah. Even so, the worship shrines were not removed. The people still sacrificed and burned incense there. The Lord struck the king with leprosy, which he had until the day he died. He lived in a separate house while his son Jotham managed the palace and governed the people of the land. His mother was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. He did what was right in the Lord's sight, following the example of his father Uzziah. Even so, the worship shrines were not removed. The people still sacrificed and burned incense there. Jotham built the upper gate of the Lord's temple. Jotham died and was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. His son Ahaz became king in his place.
In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah started to rule. And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
