Keeping his orders
My little children, I write this to you so you will not sin. And if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father — Jesus Christ the righteous. And he is the sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And this is how we know we have come to know him: if we keep his commandments. Anyone who says, I know him, and doesn't keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps his word — in him the love of God is truly made complete. This is how we know we are in him. Anyone who says he lives in him ought to walk as he walked. Brothers, I am not writing you a new commandment, but an old one you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word you heard from the beginning. And yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is past and the true light now shines. Anyone who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in darkness even now. The one who loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But the one who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and doesn't know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

The last time
Little children, it is the last time. You have heard that antichrist will come, and even now there are many antichrists — which is how we know it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us. If they had been of us, they would no doubt have stayed with us. But they went out so it would be made plain that they were not all of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth. Who is a liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father as well. So let what you heard from the beginning stay in you. If what you heard from the beginning stays in you, you will stay in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us: eternal life. I have written this to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. But the anointing you received from him stays in you, and you don't need anyone to teach you. The same anointing teaches you about everything, and is truth and no lie. Just as it has taught you, you'll stay in him. And now, little children, stay in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and not shrink back from him in shame at his coming. If you know he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.
