The shadow of the Almighty
The one who lives in the secret place of the Most High will remain under the shadow of the Almighty. I'll say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in him I will trust.' Surely he'll rescue you from hidden traps and from deadly disease. He'll cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you'll trust. His truth will be your shield and small shield. You won't fear the terror by night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that strikes at midday. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it won't come near you. Only with your eyes will you see and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge — the Most High — your dwelling place, no evil will befall you, and no plague will come near your dwelling. For he'll give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They'll bear you up in their hands, so you don't strike your foot against a stone. You'll walk over lions and cobras; you'll trample young lions and serpents underfoot. 'Because he has set his love on me, I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him. I'll be with him in trouble; I'll deliver him and honour him. With long life I'll satisfy him and show him my salvation.'
Whoever lives in the secret place of the Most High will stay in the shadow of the Almighty. I'll say about the Lord: He's my shelter and my fortress, my God, and I'll trust in him. He'll get you out of the fowler's trap and out of the deadly plague. He'll cover you with his feathers, and you'll take shelter under his wings. His truth will be your shield and armour. You won't be frightened of the terror at night or the arrow that flies by day, or the plague that walks in the dark or the ruin that wrecks at noon. A thousand will fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, and it won't come near you. You'll only look with your eyes and see what the wicked get paid. Because you've made the Lord your shelter, the Most High where you live, no evil will come at you and no plague will come near your tent. Because he'll give his angels orders about you, to keep you in all your ways. They'll carry you in their hands, so you don't knock your foot on a stone. You'll walk on the lion and the cobra. You'll trample the young lion and the serpent. Because he's set his love on me, I'll get him out. I'll set him up high, because he's known my name. He'll call on me and I'll answer him. I'll be with him in trouble. I'll pull him out and give him honour. I'll fill him right up with long life and show him my salvation.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
