Out of the roaring pit
I waited and waited for the LORD, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the horrible pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock and made my steps steady. And he put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God. Many will see it and be afraid and trust in the LORD. Blessed is the man who makes the LORD the one he trusts, and doesn't turn to the proud or to those who wander off into lies. Lord my God, you've done many wonders, and your thoughts towards us can't be set out in order to you. If I tried to tell them and speak them, there'd be too many to count. You didn't want sacrifice and offering. You've opened my ears. You didn't ask for burnt offering and sin offering. Then I said: Look, I've come. It's written about me in the scroll of the book. I delight to do your will, my God. Your law is within my heart. I have declared righteousness in the great gathering; I have not held back my words, LORD, and you know it. I haven't hidden your righteousness inside my heart. I've declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I haven't hidden your mercy and your truth from the great assembly.
I waited and waited for the Lord, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the roaring pit, out of the sticky mud, and set my feet on a rock and made my steps steady. And he put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God. Plenty will see it and be afraid and trust in the Lord. Happy is the man who makes the Lord the one he trusts, and doesn't turn to the proud or to the ones who wander off into lies. Lord my God, you've done plenty of wonders, and your thoughts towards us can't be set out in order to you. If I tried to tell them and speak them, there'd be too many to count. You didn't want sacrifice and offering. You've opened my ears. You didn't ask for burnt offering and sin offering. Then I said: Look, I've come. It's written about me in the scroll of the book. I take delight in doing what you want, my God. Your teaching is right inside me. I've told out righteousness in the great gathering. Look — I haven't held my lips back, Lord, and you know it. I haven't hidden your righteousness inside my heart. I've told out your faithfulness and your salvation. I haven't hidden your faithful love and your truth from the great gathering.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

Don't hold back your mercies
So don't hold back your mercies from me, Lord. Let your mercy and your truth keep me all the time. Countless troubles have surrounded me. My wrongdoings have caught up with me so I cannot see. They're more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed me. Be pleased to deliver me, Lord. Lord, hurry up and help me. Let those seeking my life to destroy it be ashamed and let down together. Let those who want me hurt be turned back and shamed. Let those who say to me, Aha, aha, be desolate because of their shame. Let everyone who seeks you be glad and rejoice in you. Let those who love your salvation keep saying: The LORD be magnified. But I'm poor and needy — still, the LORD cares for me. You're my help and my deliverer. My God, don't hold back.
So don't hold back your mercies from me, Lord. Let your faithful love and your truth keep me all the time. Because troubles past counting have closed in on me. My wrongdoing has caught up with me, so I can't see. There's more of it than the hairs on my head, and my heart has failed me. Be pleased to get me out, Lord. Lord, hurry up and help me. Let the ones after my soul to wreck it be ashamed and let down together. Let the ones who want me hurt be turned back and shamed. Let the ones who say to me, Ah, ah, be stopped in their tracks by their own shame. Let everyone who looks for you be glad and celebrate in you. Let the ones who love your salvation keep saying: The Lord be made big. But I'm poor and needy — still, the Master thinks about me. You're my help and the one who gets me out. My God, don't hold back.
Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me. Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified. But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
So don't hold back your mercies from me, Lord. Let your mercy and your truth keep me all the time.
