Next to them the Tekoites made repairs — but their nobles wouldn't put their necks to the work of their Lord. The Old Gate was repaired by Jehoiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah. And next to them Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite made repairs, with the men of Gibeon and Mizpah, as far as the seat of the governor of the province beyond the River. They built it and set its doors and its locks and its bars in place, and repaired a thousand cubits of wall as far as the Dung Gate. He built it and roofed it and set its doors and its locks and its bars in place, and repaired the wall of the Pool of Siloah by the king's garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David. After him Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of half the district of Bethzur, made repairs as far as the place opposite the tombs of David, and to the artificial pool, and to the House of the Mighty Men. After him the Levites made repairs: Rehum son of Bani. Next to him Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah, repaired his section. After him their brothers made repairs: Bavai son of Henadad, ruler of half the district of Keilah. And next to him Ezer son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, repaired another section, opposite the ascent to the armoury at the angle of the wall. After him Baruch son of Zabbai worked hard and repaired another section, from the angle of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest. After him Meremoth son of Urijah, son of Koz, repaired another section, from the door of Eliashib's house to the far end of Eliashib's house. Also, the temple servants lived in Ophel, as far as the place opposite the Water Gate toward the east, and the projecting tower. After them the Tekoites repaired another section, opposite the great projecting tower and as far as the wall of Ophel. Above the Horse Gate the priests made repairs, each one opposite his own house. After them Zadok son of Immer made repairs opposite his own house. After him Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the East Gate. After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section. After him Meshullam son of Berechiah made repairs opposite his own quarters. After him Malchiah the goldsmith's son made repairs as far as the place of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Gate Miphkad, and as far as the going up of the corner. Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lieth out. After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, over against the great tower that lieth out, even unto the wall of Ophel.
