Coming into Jerusalem

And Jesus said to them, Yes. Have you never read, Out of the mouths of babies and infants you have brought forth praise? And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and stayed there. Now in the morning, as he came back into the city, he was hungry. And when he saw a fig tree by the road he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. And he said to it, Let no fruit grow on you from now on, ever. And the fig tree withered away at once. And when the disciples saw it they were amazed, saying, How quickly the fig tree has withered. Jesus answered them, I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don't doubt, you won't only do what was done to the fig tree. Even if you say to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea, it will be done. And whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.

Because John came to you in the way of righteousness and you didn't believe him. But the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And you, when you had seen it, didn't think better of it afterwards and believe him. Listen to another parable. There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard and put a hedge round it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower. And he let it out to tenants and went away to another country. And when the time for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to collect the fruit of it. And the tenants took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants, more than the first. And they did the same to them. But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, They will respect my son. But when the tenants saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir. Come on, let us kill him and take his inheritance. And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. So when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants? They said to him, He will destroy those wicked men without mercy, and let his vineyard out to other tenants who will give him the fruit in its seasons. Jesus said to them, Have you never read in the scriptures: The stone the builders rejected has become the head of the corner. This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? So I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth its fruits. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken. But on whoever it falls, it will grind him to powder. And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they realised he was speaking about them. But when they tried to lay hands on him, they were afraid of the crowd, because they held him to be a prophet.

And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.

They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
Jesus said to them, Have you never read in the scriptures: The stone the builders rejected has become the head of the corner. This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
