And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is close. Heal the sick. Cleanse the people with leprosy. Raise the dead. Drive out demons. You have received freely — give freely. Don't take gold or silver or bronze in your belts, or a bag for the journey, or two coats, or shoes, or walking sticks. Because the worker is worthy of his food. And whatever town or village you go into, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave. And when you go into a house, greet it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come on it. But if it isn't worthy, let your peace come back to you. And whoever won't take you in or listen to your words — when you leave that house or that town, shake the dust off your feet. I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha on the day of judgement than for that town.

And you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they hand you over, don't worry about how or what you will speak. Because it will be given you in that same hour what you should speak. Because it isn't you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking in you. And brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. And children will rise up against their parents and have them put to death. And you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. But when they persecute you in one town, run to another. So whoever confesses me in front of men, I will confess him too in front of my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me in front of men, I will deny him too in front of my Father who is in heaven. Don't think I have come to bring peace on earth. I didn't come to bring peace, but a sword. Because I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man's enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me isn't worthy of me. And whoever loves son or daughter more than me isn't worthy of me. And whoever doesn't take up his cross and follow after me isn't worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it. And whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
