The centurion's servant
Now when he had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he went into Capernaum. And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and about to die. And when he heard about Jesus he sent elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus they begged him earnestly, saying, He is worthy of your doing this for him, because he loves our nation, and he built us our synagogue. Then Jesus went with them. And when he wasn't far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, Lord, don't trouble yourself. Because I am not worthy that you should come under my roof. That is why I didn't think myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. Because I am a man under authority myself, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, Go, and he goes. And to another, Come, and he comes. And to my servant, Do this, and he does it. When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him, and turned round and said to the people following him, I tell you, I haven't found faith as great as this, not even in Israel. And those who had been sent went back to the house and found the servant well, who had been sick.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, Don't weep. And he came and touched the bier, and those carrying it stood still. And he said, Young man, I say to you, get up. And the dead man sat up and began to speak. And he gave him back to his mother. And fear came on everyone, and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet has risen up among us, and God has visited his people. And this report about him went out through all Judaea and all the region round about.

And in that same hour he cured many of their illnesses and sufferings and evil spirits, and to many who were blind he gave sight. Then Jesus answered them, Go your way and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, the people with leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is anyone who isn't offended by me. And when John's messengers had gone, he began to speak to the people about John: What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Look — those who wear splendid clothes and live in luxury are in kings' courts. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet. This is the one it is written about: Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you. Because I tell you, among those born of women there isn't a greater prophet than John the Baptist. But the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he is. And all the people who heard him, and the tax collectors, declared God just, having been baptised with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God for themselves, not being baptised by him. And the Lord said, What should I compare the men of this generation to? And what are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying, We played the pipe for you and you didn't dance. We mourned to you and you didn't weep. Because John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and you say, Look — a glutton and a drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. But wisdom is proved right by all her children.

The woman with the ointment
And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house and sat down at the table. And there was a woman in the town who was a sinner. And when she knew that Jesus was sitting at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment, and stood behind him at his feet, weeping. And she began to wash his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, If this man were a prophet he would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him — because she is a sinner. And Jesus answered him, Simon, I have something to say to you. And he said, Master, say on. There was a moneylender who had two debtors. One owed five hundred silver coins, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay with, he freely forgave them both. Tell me then, which of them will love him most? Simon answered, I suppose the one he forgave most. And he said to him, You have judged rightly. And he turned to the woman and said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I came into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet. But she has washed my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave me no kiss. But this woman, from the time I came in, hasn't stopped kissing my feet. You didn't anoint my head with oil. But this woman has anointed my feet with ointment. So I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven — because she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little loves little. And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven. And those sitting at the table with him began to say among themselves, Who is this who forgives sins as well? And he said to the woman, Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.

Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
and stood behind him at his feet, weeping. And she began to wash his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.

So I say to you, her sins, that are plenty, are forgiven. Because she loved a lot. But the one who's forgiven little loves little.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven.
And he said to her: Your sins are forgiven.
And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
And those sitting at the table with him began to say among themselves, Who is this who forgives sins as well?
And the ones sitting at table with him started to say among themselves: Who's this who forgives sins too?
And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
And he said to the woman, Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.
And he said to the woman: Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.
And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
