Blood and the altar
The Lord spoke to Moses: Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: This is the thing the Lord has commanded. Whatever man of the people of Israel kills an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or kills it outside the camp, And doesn't bring it to the door of the tent of meeting to offer an offering to the Lord in front of the tent of the Lord — blood will be counted to that man. He's spilt blood. And that man will be cut off from among his people. So the Israelites will bring their sacrifices that they offer in the open field, and bring them to the Lord, to the door of the tent of meeting, to the priest, and offer them as peace offerings to the Lord. The priest will sprinkle the blood on the altar of the Lord at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a pleasing aroma to the Lord. They must not offer their sacrifices to demons any more, that they've gone whoring after. This will be a permanent rule for them through their generations. And say to them: Whatever man of the people of Israel, or of the strangers staying among you, offers a burnt offering or sacrifice, And doesn't bring it to the door of the tent of meeting to offer it to the Lord — that man will be cut off from among his people. And whatever man of the people of Israel, or of the strangers staying among you, eats any kind of blood — I will turn against that person who eats blood, and cut him off from among his people. Because the life of the flesh is in the blood. And I've given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls. For it is the blood that covers over for the soul. So I said to the Israelites: None of you will eat blood, and no stranger staying among you will eat blood. And whatever man of the Israelites, or of the strangers staying among you, hunts and catches any animal or bird that can be eaten — he will pour out its blood and cover it with dust. For it is the life of all flesh. Its blood is for its life. So I said to the Israelites: You must not eat the blood of any flesh. Because the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it will be cut off. And everyone who eats what died on its own, or what was torn by beasts, whether one of your own country or a stranger, will wash his clothes and wash himself in water and be unclean till evening. Then he will be clean. But if he doesn't wash them or wash his flesh, then he will carry his wrongdoing.

And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations. And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice, And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people. And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust. For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean. But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.
