But after a while, in the time of the wheat harvest, Samson went to visit his wife with a young goat. And he said, I am going in to my wife, in her room. But her father wouldn't let him go in. And her father said, I truly thought you hated her, so I gave her to your companion. Isn't her younger sister better than she is? Take her instead. And Samson said to them, This time I will be in the clear with the Philistines when I do them harm. And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned the foxes tail to tail and put a torch between each pair of tails. And when he had set the torches alight, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up the stacked sheaves and the standing grain as well, and the vineyards and the olive groves. Then the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they were told, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion. So the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire. And Samson said to them, If this is how you act, I won't stop until I have had my revenge on you. And he struck them down, hip and thigh, with a great slaughter. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etam.

And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and reached out and took it, and killed a thousand men with it. And Samson said: With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps upon heaps; with the jawbone of a donkey I have killed a thousand men. And when he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi. He was terribly thirsty, so he called on the Lord and said, 'You gave your servant this great victory. Am I now going to die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?' But God split open a hollow place in the jaw, and water came out of it. And when he had drunk, his spirit came back and he revived. So he called it Enhakkore, which is at Lehi to this day. And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines for twenty years.

And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands. And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith. And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men. And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi. And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day. And he was very thirsty and called on the Lord: You've given this great salvation into the hand of your servant. And now will I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
