And the Lord said to the Israelites, Didn't I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the Ammonites and from the Philistines? And the Zidonians and the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you, and you cried out to me, and I delivered you out of their hand. Yet you have abandoned me and served other gods. So I won't deliver you any more. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble. And the Israelites said to the Lord, We have sinned. Do to us whatever seems good to you. Only deliver us today, we beg you. And they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord. And he could bear Israel's misery no longer. Then the Ammonites were called out and camped in Gilead. And the Israelites gathered and camped at Mizpeh. And the people, the leaders of Gilead, said to one another, Who is the man who will start the fight against the Ammonites? He will be head over everyone living in Gilead.

And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord: We've sinned against you, because we've left our God and served the Baals. And the Lord said to the people of Israel: Didn't I get you out from the Egyptians and from the Amorites, from the Ammonites and from the Philistines? The Sidonians too and the Amalekites and the Maonites pressed you, and you cried out to me and I got you out of their hand. But you've left me and served other gods. So I won't get you out any more. And the Zidonians and the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you, and you cried out to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

Yet you have abandoned me and served other gods. So I won't deliver you any more.
