Circumcision at Gilgal
When all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings by the sea heard that the Lord had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until they crossed, their courage failed. They had no nerve left because of Israel. At that time the Lord said to Joshua: Make yourself flint knives and circumcise the Israelites again, a second time. So Joshua made himself flint knives and circumcised the Israelites at the hill of the foreskins. Neither, he said. I've come as commander of the Lord's army. Joshua fell facedown to the ground in worship and asked: What does my lord have to say to his servant? The commander of the Lord's army said: Take your sandal off your foot, because the place where you're standing is holy. And Joshua did so.

And the captain of the LORD’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
