The town broken open
In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and his whole army came against Jerusalem and besieged it. And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth of the month, the city was broken open. And all the officials of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the Middle Gate — Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsekim the chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer the high official, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon. And the Chaldeans burnt the king's house and the houses of the people with fire, and pulled down the walls of Jerusalem. Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried off to Babylon the rest of the people left in the city, and the deserters who'd gone over to him, and the rest of the people who were left. But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left some of the poor people, those who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at that time.
