A warning to the rich
Now listen, you rich men. Weep and howl over the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have got at your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded, and the rust of them will be evidence against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have piled up treasure in the last days. Look — the wages you held back from the men who reaped your paddocks are crying out. And the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived in luxury on the earth and indulged yourselves. You have fattened your hearts for a day of slaughter. You have condemned and killed the righteous man, and he does not resist you.

You have heard of Job's patience, and you have seen the end of the Lord — that the Lord is full of compassion and tender mercy. But above everything, my brothers, don't swear — not by heaven or by earth or by any other oath. Let your yes be yes and your no be no, so you don't fall under judgement.
