The earth emptied
the LORD makes the earth empty, lays it waste, turns it upside down and scatters its people abroad. It will be the same for the people as for the priest, for the servant as for the master, for the servant as for her mistress, for the buyer as for the seller, for the lender as for the borrower, and for the creditor as for the debtor. The land will be utterly emptied and utterly spoiled, because the LORD has spoken this word. The earth mourns and fades away; the world languishes and fades away. The arrogant people of the earth languish. The earth is defiled by the people living on it, because they have broken the laws, ignored the rules and broken the everlasting covenant. So the curse has devoured the earth, and those who live in it are desolate. So the people of the earth are burned, and few men are left. The new wine mourns and the vine droops. Everyone who was light-hearted is groaning. The joy of the tambourines has ceased, the noise of those who rejoice has ended, and the joy of the harp has ceased. They won't drink wine with a song; strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it. The city of confusion is broken down; every house is shut up so that no man may come in. There's crying in the streets for wine. All the gladness has gone dark, and the joy of the land is gone. Desolation is left in the city, and the gate is struck down with destruction. Because that's how it'll be in the middle of the earth among the peoples — like an olive tree that's been shaken, like the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.
Look — the Lord is emptying the earth and laying it waste. He's twisting its surface and scattering the people who live on it. And it'll go the same for the people as for the priest, for the servant as for his master, for the maid as for her mistress, for the buyer as for the seller, for the lender as for the borrower, for the creditor as for the one who owes him. The earth will be emptied right out and stripped bare, because the Lord has spoken this word. The earth mourns and withers. The world droops and withers. The high and mighty of the earth droop. The earth is defiled under those who live on it, because they've broken the laws and stepped over the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant. So a curse eats up the earth, and those living on it bear the guilt. So the people who live on the earth are burnt up, and only a few are left. The new wine mourns and the vine droops. Everyone who was light-hearted is groaning. The joy of the tambourines has stopped. The noise of the party is finished. The joy of the harp has stopped. They don't drink wine with a song any more. The beer is bitter to the ones drinking it. The town of chaos is broken down. Every house is shut up so nobody can come in. There's crying in the streets for wine. All the gladness has gone dark, and the joy of the land is gone. What's left in the town is desolation, and the gate is smashed to rubble. Because that's how it'll be in the middle of the earth among the peoples — like an olive tree that's been shaken, like the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.
Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh. The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth. They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
the LORD makes the earth empty, lays it waste, turns it upside down and scatters its people abroad.

Songs from the ends of the earth
They lift up their voices, they sing. From the sea they shout for the majesty of the LORD. So glorify the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the islands of the sea. From the ends of the earth we hear singing: Glory to the Righteous One. But I said: I'm wasting away, I'm wasting away. Trouble is coming to me. The traitors have betrayed. The traitors have well and truly betrayed. Terror and the pit and the trap are on you, you who live on the earth. And whoever runs from the noise of the terror will fall into the pit, and whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in the trap. Because the windows of heaven are opened and the foundations of the earth are shaking. The earth is completely broken apart, the earth is torn open, the earth is shaken violently. The earth will reel to and fro like a drunkard and be removed like a cottage. Its wrongdoing will be heavy on it; it will fall and not rise again. And on that day the LORD will deal with the host of the height up above and the kings of the earth down here. They'll be gathered together like prisoners gathered in the pit and shut up in the prison; after many days they'll be visited. Then the moon will be embarrassed and the sun ashamed, when the LORD Almighty reigns on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, glorious before his elders.
They lift up their voices, they sing out. From the sea they shout for the majesty of the Lord. So give glory to the Lord in the east, and to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea. The earth is broken right open. The earth is split apart. The earth is shaken hard. The earth staggers like a drunk and sways like a hut in the wind. Its wrongdoing weighs heavy on it, and it falls and won't get up again. And on that day the Lord will deal with the host of the height up above and the kings of the earth down here. They'll be gathered together like prisoners in a pit and shut up in the lock-up, and after many days they'll be dealt with. Then the moon will be embarrassed and the sun ashamed, because the Lord Almighty reigns on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and there'll be glory in front of his elders.
They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea. Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
