Think about your ways
In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the Lord spoke through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest: This is what the Lord Almighty says: This people are saying, It's not time yet — not time to build the house of the Lord. Then the Lord spoke through Haggai the prophet: Is it time for you to be living in your panelled houses while this house lies in ruins? So this is what the Lord Almighty says: Take a good hard look at how you're living. You've sown plenty and brought in next to nothing. You eat and never have enough. You drink and never get your fill. You put clothes on and nobody's warm. And the man who earns wages earns them into a bag with a hole in it. This is what the Lord Almighty says: Take a good hard look at how you're living. Get up into the hills and bring timber down and build the house. And I'll be pleased with it, and I'll be honoured, says the Lord. You looked for a lot and it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord Almighty. Because my house lies in ruins while every one of you runs about seeing to his own place. That's why the sky over you has held back its dew, and the ground has held back what it grows. And I called a drought down on the land and on the hills, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on everything the ground brings up, on men and on stock, and on all the work of your hands.

So the sky over you holds back its dew, and the earth holds back its harvest. And I called for a drought on the land and on the hills, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings out, on man and on beast, and on all the work of your hands.

So this is what the Lord Almighty says: Take a good hard look at how you're living.

And the people stood in fear of the Lord. Then Haggai, the Lord's messenger, gave the people the Lord's message: I'm with you, says the Lord. And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of everyone left of the people. And they came and got on with the work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius.
Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, with everything left of the people, listened to the voice of the Lord their God and to the words of Haggai the prophet, the way the Lord their God had sent him. And the people were frightened in front of the Lord. Then Haggai, the Lord's messenger, spoke the Lord's message to the people: I'm with you, says the Lord. And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of everything left of the people. And they came and worked on the house of the Lord Almighty their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD. Then spake Haggai the LORD’s messenger in the LORD’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD. And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and everyone left of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, because the Lord their God had sent him. And the people stood in fear of the Lord.
Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, with everything left of the people, listened to the voice of the Lord their God and to the words of Haggai the prophet, the way the Lord their God had sent him. And the people were frightened in front of the Lord.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.
Then Haggai, the Lord's messenger, gave the people the Lord's message: I'm with you, says the Lord.

Then spake Haggai the LORD’s messenger in the LORD’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of everyone left of the people. And they came and got on with the work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God,
