Jacob sent to Haran
And Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and gave him his orders: Don't take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. Get up and go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel your mother's father. And get yourself a wife there from the daughters of Laban your mother's brother. And God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, till you're a whole company of peoples. And give you the blessing of Abraham, you and your offspring with you, so you take over the land you're a stranger in, the land God gave Abraham. And Isaac sent Jacob off, and he went to Padanaram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Syrian, brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau. When Esau saw Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him off to Padanaram to get himself a wife there, and that when he blessed him he'd told him: Don't take a wife from the daughters of Canaan — and that Jacob had done what his father and mother said and gone to Padanaram — and when Esau saw the daughters of Canaan didn't suit Isaac his father, he went to Ishmael and took Mahalath, the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son and sister of Nebajoth, as a wife on top of the wives he had.

And look — I'm with you, and I'll keep you wherever you go, and I'll bring you back into this land. I won't leave you till I've done what I've told you. And Jacob woke out of his sleep and said: The Lord's in this place for certain, and I never knew it. And he was frightened, and said: This is an awesome place. It's nothing but the house of God, and it's the gate of heaven. And Jacob was up early. He took the stone he'd had under his head and stood it up as a pillar, and poured oil over the top of it. And he called the place Bethel. But the town had been called Luz before that. And Jacob made a vow: If God is with me and keeps me on this road I'm going, and gives me bread to eat and clothes to put on, so I come back to my father's house in one piece — then the Lord will be my God. And this stone I've stood up as a pillar will be God's house. And of everything you give me, I'll give you back a tenth for sure.
