Sarah dies
Sarah lived a hundred and twenty-seven years. She died at Kiriath-Arba — that's Hebron — in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. Then Abraham got up from beside his dead and spoke to the Hittites. “I'm a foreigner and a stranger among you. Sell me some property here for a burial site, so I can bury my dead out of my sight.”

Then Abraham got up from beside his dead and spoke to the Hittites.
“I'm a foreigner and a stranger among you. Sell me some property here for a burial site, so I can bury my dead out of my sight.”

And the Hittites answered Abraham, “Listen to us, sir. You're a mighty prince among us. Bury your dead in the best of our tombs. Not one of us will refuse you his tomb for burying your dead.” Then Abraham got up and bowed down to the people of the land, the Hittites. And he said to them, “If you're willing for me to bury my dead out of my sight, then hear me, and speak to Ephron son of Zohar for me, so he'll sell me the cave of Machpelah, which belongs to him and is at the end of his field. Let him sell it to me in front of you for the full price, as a burial site.”
And the Hittites answered Abraham,
“Listen to us, sir. You're a mighty prince among us. Bury your dead in the best of our tombs. Not one of us will refuse you his tomb for burying your dead.”
Then Abraham got up and bowed down to the people of the land, the Hittites.
And he said to them, “If you're willing for me to bury my dead out of my sight, then hear me, and speak to Ephron son of Zohar for me,
so he'll sell me the cave of Machpelah, which belongs to him and is at the end of his field. Let him sell it to me in front of you for the full price, as a burial site.”
Ephron
Now Ephron the Hittite was sitting among his people, and he answered Abraham in the hearing of all the Hittites who'd come to the gate of the city. “No, sir. Listen to me. I give you the field, and I give you the cave that's in it. I give it to you in front of my people. Bury your dead.” And Abraham bowed down before the people of the land, and he said to Ephron in their hearing, “Listen to me, if you would. I'll pay the price of the field. Take it from me, so I can bury my dead there.” And Ephron answered Abraham, “Listen to me, sir. Land worth four hundred shekels of silver — what's that between you and me? Bury your dead.” And Abraham agreed to Ephron's terms and weighed out for him the price he'd named in the hearing of the Hittites: four hundred shekels of silver, at the going rate among the merchants.

and he said to Ephron in their hearing, “Listen to me, if you would. I'll pay the price of the field. Take it from me, so I can bury my dead there.”
And Ephron answered Abraham,
“Listen to me, sir. Land worth four hundred shekels of silver — what's that between you and me? Bury your dead.”
And Abraham agreed to Ephron's terms and weighed out for him the price he'd named in the hearing of the Hittites: four hundred shekels of silver, at the going rate among the merchants.
Made over
So Ephron's field at Machpelah, near Mamre — the field and the cave in it and all the trees inside the boundaries of the field — was made over to Abraham as his property, in front of all the Hittites who'd come to the gate of the city. And after that Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave in the field of Machpelah near Mamre — that's Hebron — in the land of Canaan. So the field and the cave in it were made over to Abraham by the Hittites as a burial site.
