The river from the threshold
Afterward he brought me back to the door of the house. Look, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house toward the east, because the front of the house faced east. The waters came down from under the right side of the house, south of the altar. Then he brought me out by the north gate and led me round the outside to the outer gate, the way that faces east. And there was water running out on the right side. And when the man went out eastward with the line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits and made me go through the water. Then he said to me, “These waters flow out toward the east country, go down into the desert and enter the sea. When they are brought into the sea, the waters will be healed. Every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers come, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters will come there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river comes. Fishermen will stand beside it from Engedi to Eneglaim. It will be a place for spreading nets, and there'll be every kind of fish, like in the great sea — heaps of them. But its swamps and its marshes won't be healed. They'll be given up to salt. By the river, on both banks, will grow every kind of tree for food. Their leaves will not fade and their fruit will not fail. They will bring forth new fruit according to their months, because their waters flow from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for medicine.

The borders of the land

And this is the border of the land on the north side, from the Great Sea by the way of Hethlon as men go to Zedad — Hamath, Berothah and Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazarhatticon, which is by the border of Hauran; And the border from the sea will be Hazar Enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And that's the north side. And the east side you'll measure from Hauran and from Damascus, and from Gilead and from the land of Israel by the Jordan, from the border to the eastern sea. And that's the east side. And the south side southward, from Tamar right to the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, the gully to the Great Sea. And that's the south side southward. The west side too will be the Great Sea from the border, till a man comes opposite Hamath. That's the west side. So you'll divide this land among yourselves by the tribes of Israel. And you'll divide it by lot as an inheritance for yourselves, and for the foreigners living among you who father children among you. And they'll be to you like ones born in the country among the people of Israel. They'll have an inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel. And in whatever tribe the foreigner is living, that's where you'll give him his inheritance, says the Lord GOD.
