The monster in the river
In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth of the month, the LORD spoke to me: Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt and prophesy against him and against the whole of Egypt. Speak and say: This is what the Lord GOD says. Look: I'm against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster lying in the middle of his rivers, who's said, The Nile is mine and I made it for myself. But I'll put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your rivers stick to your scales. And I'll bring you up out of your rivers, with all the fish of your rivers sticking to your scales. And I'll leave you thrown out in the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers. You'll fall on the open field. You won't be gathered up or brought in. I've given you as food to the animals of the field and the birds of heaven. And everyone living in Egypt will know that I'm the LORD, because they've been a walking stick of reed to the people of Israel. When they took hold of you by the hand, you snapped and tore all their shoulder. And when they leaned on you, you broke and made all their backs give way. So this is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I'll bring a sword on you and cut off man and beast from you. And the land of Egypt will be a desolation and a waste. It won't lift itself above the nations any more. And I'll make them small, so they don't rule over the nations. And it won't be something the people of Israel trusts in any more, bringing their wrongdoing to mind when they looked to them. And they'll know that I'm the Lord GOD. And in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the LORD spoke to me: “Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made his army serve a great service against Tyrus. Every head was made bald and every shoulder was peeled, yet neither he nor his army received wages from Tyrus for the service he had served against it. So this is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I'll give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon. And he'll take her crowd and take her plunder and take her loot, and that'll be his army's wages. I've given him the land of Egypt for the work he did, because they worked for me, says the Lord GOD. On that day I'll make a horn grow for the people of Israel, and I'll open your mouth among them. And they'll know that I'm the LORD.

And it came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyrus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was peeled: yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Tyrus, for the service that he had served against it: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army. I have given him the land of Egypt for his labour wherewith he served against it, because they wrought for me, saith the Lord GOD. In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
